SongInvention

Kristi McGarity co-owns Sam Heuck Web Development - a 50% woman-owned, disability-owned shop with over ten years of experience developing websites and web apps for companies large and small.

Her academic degrees are in music (MM and DMA in Music Composition from the University of Texas at Austin), and as a music professor she founded the Music Technology program at Montana State University, building a new major for aspiring composers and sound engineers. As SongInvention, she produces and engineers custom music on commission to celebrate and commemorate special events. Long before that, she made happy synthpop in Michigan under the name Opposite Day.

Since 2018, personal and family experience with health care policy led Kristi to join the National Council on Independent Living, where she chairs a workgroup under the Advocacy and Public Policy Committee. She was honored to be a recipient of the 2023 Corey Rowley National Advocacy Award, for efforts organizing access to health care for people with disabilities.

A deep affinity for storytelling and stagecraft underlies all of her work in music and advocacy - and now custom website development, to tell your story too!
